Release: BWB Series, False Divides

We’ve got another BWB Winter Series talk coming up in Auckland, exploring connections across the Pacific.

False Divides: Lana Lopesi in conversation with Damon Salesa

Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa is the great ocean continent. For those Indigenous to the Pacific, the Moana was traditionally a connector and an ancestor. Imperialism, however, has created false divides between islands and separated their peoples.

In this Winter Series event, Lana Lopesi, author of upcoming BWB Text False Divides and editor of The Pantograph Punch, talks with Damon Salesa(Island Time) to discuss how globalising technologies and the adaptability of Moana peoples are turning our ocean back into the unifying continent that it once was.

Sunday 9 September
Level 1, Pioneer Women’s Hall
Ellen Melville Centre
